Why you got a takeoff email, and why you didn't

The exact bar a post has to clear before Vamos emails you between briefs.

Your weekly brief arrives on Monday. Between briefs, Vamos will email you once if something starts climbing fast enough to be worth interrupting your week for.

This article is the bar. It is set high on purpose, because an alert that arrives often stops being an alert.

What clears it

Two things can trigger an email, and they are held to different standards.

One of your own posts, at three times the views that account normally gets. It is your post, and the useful move is to make more of it while the platform is still pushing it. That window is days, not weeks.

A post from a creator in your Watchlist, at ten times the views that creator normally gets. The bar is much higher because this arrives unasked and it is about somebody else. Below ten times it is a good post, and a good post is what Monday is for.

Both are measured against the account's own normal, not against some absolute view count. A creator with 4,000 typical views can clear the bar; a creator with four million might not.

What never triggers one

Rising formats and things moving in your niche are never emailed between briefs. A format that is climbing today is still climbing on Monday, so there is nothing lost by waiting, and mailing about it twice would turn the weekly brief into noise.

The limits

Three, and they are why you might not hear about something that did clear the bar.

The post must have gone up in the last three days. Older than that and it is news rather than an event.

You get at most one takeoff email a week, whatever else happens. If two posts clear the bar, you hear about the stronger one.

Nothing arrives on the day before or the day after your scheduled brief. A letter on Monday and an alert on Tuesday teaches you that the schedule means nothing, so Vamos leaves a clear day either side. If your brief is set to daily, this limit does not apply, because there is no main event to protect.

What checking is not

Vamos checks once a day whether anything crossed the bar. Almost every check finds nothing, and finding nothing is the normal result. No email is sent, nothing is written to your history, and no credits are spent.

A check also never moves your brief. Hearing about a post on Thursday does not push your Monday brief to Friday.

Turning it on or off

Open your weekly brief, then Brief settings, then Email me when a post takes off.

Your brief arrives on schedule whether this is on or off.
