Four steps. Longest the first time, quicker after that.
1. Add them and let Vamos read them
Creators, then search their handle under Account, then Follow.
Wait a minute or two while it scans. Do it for their whole competitive set. A pattern across three accounts is worth more than an observation about one.
2. Sort by outlier score, not by views
On their page, sort by outlier score. That puts the videos that beat their own normal at the top. The sort menu is at the right, above their videos, and starts on Most recent.
This is the step most people skip, and it is the one that makes the difference. Sorting by views tells you which of their videos is most famous. Sorting by outlier tells you which one broke their pattern, and a broken pattern means something changed. The change is what you are looking for.
3. Ask what was different
Use a starter in Ask AI on their page, or ask directly:
"Take @handle's top outliers from the last 90 days. For each one, tell me what they did differently from their other posts: the hook, the structure, the topic, the format."
The answer you want is not "they posted about X". It is "they opened with a claim instead of a question", or "it was a screen recording rather than a talking head". Those transfer. Their topic does not.
Then run the audit for the other half of the picture:
"Audit @handle's profile. What do they post, what performs best, how often, and where are the gaps?"
The gaps are the most valuable part. A subject their audience clearly wants that they are not covering is demand with nobody serving it.
4. Write your version
"Take the two strongest patterns from that and write me three posts for my brand, in my voice, on my topics."

Doing it for a set rather than one account
Once several competitors are followed, pick them under All creators on the Following tab in Videos, and use the starters in Ask AI instead of going account by account. What's working this week and Patterns across my creators run across the whole set, which is where repeated patterns become visible.

What this will not tell you
Whether your version will perform. You are adapting a structure that worked for someone else with a different audience. That is a better starting point than guessing, and it is not a guarantee.
